Sulinka
„A treasure from the Slovakia’s Mountains“

Sulinka is a mineral water which springs from the depths of the northernmost portion of Lubovnianska Mountains, near the hamlet of Sulín in the river Poprad valley, on the edge of the Slovak-Polish border.
This mineral water coming from the Earth’s depth has a rich content of natural carbon dioxide. the water has curative effects on human body and is used in treatment of anaemia, stomach and intestinal catarrhs, and is also benefi cial in addressing respiratory tract diseases.

This particular water was popular also with Austrian-Hungarian monarchs, especially Franz Josef and his wife Empress Elisabeth of Bavaria, popularly known as Princess Sissi.

The mineral spring MS – 1 Johanus is recognized by the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic as a “natural curative spring”
(Decree No. 411/94-A/IKŽ-87 of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic of 23/3/1998, published in the Official Journal of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic part 6-7 of 26/5/1998.).

The documented history of curative powers of Sulinka water dates back to 1836. Exact composition and the premium qualities of the water were first scientifically established in 1843. the water had by then been already widely used as a dietetic beverage and a medicine with good curative results. From the historical documents of Professor A. Rebro, local balneologist, we know that the mineral water from Sulin was marketed under the trade name “Sulinka – CrownSpring” (its historical name was Szuliner min. wasser – KronenQuelle).

The water was exported mainly to the Austrian-Hungarian regions of Dalmatia and Transylvania, and also to the other regions of the Empire and to the United States and Canada. After a general decline of free trading during the communist era, which affected also the production and marketing of Sulinka, the water became lately rediscovered and is now again available to the wide public.

De-ironed

In his work, carried out for the Austrian government, titled Curative Springs of the Austrian Empire (Vienna 1777), a Viennese physician and a professor of chemistry, Heinrich Johann Gräth, described the springs in Sulinka valley as strongly mineralized, with high content of iron. the exact chemical analysis of local mineral waters was conducted in the first half of the 19th century by Dr. Jakub Engel who promoted their medicinal effects and recommended their use in treatment of stomach, intestinal, kidney, liver, respiratory and urinary tracts diseases as well as for certain gynaecological and nervous system conditions. Further chemical analyses of local springs were performed in 1894 by the university professor from Budapest, Dr. Bella Lengyele, which only re-confirmed their curative qualities.

Store closed in a cool and dry place. the crystallization of honey is a natural process and a manifestation of the authenticity of honey. If the honey has crystallized, you can turn it back into liquid form by gently heating and stirring it. Be careful not to overheat the honey to more than 50°C. This may deteriorate the colour and flavour of the honey.
